About the Artist

Photographer & painting conservator David Garcia is inquisitive. He is drawn to subjects and techniques that are beyond easy comprehension and the limits of skill, strength, and reasoning, to a place where logic and intent give way to intuition and feeling. His macro photographs are artifacts from these explorations: evocative documents of forces at play.

David’s early career was a journey through camera and lighting roles for feature films and television; an eye-honing apprenticeship to renowned food photographer Tim Turner; and as an experience designer and project manager for system-change studio Foresight Design Initiative.

In 2015, David “retired” from commercial art and moved his family abroad to pursue a Masters in the Conservation of Easel Paintings from Northumbria University, UK. When he is not making art in his own studio, he can be found extending the life of old-masters and modern paintings at Reanda Art Conservation in Chicago.
